Holiday fun for all the family

Family and kids - family holidays in Hall in Tirol

The Reschenhof is very well suited as a holiday destination for all the family. There is not just something for adults, there are things for children to do in the summer too. Below you will find tips for activities in the region, which children really like.

Piepmatzweg trail on the Vögelsberg

Hiking, exploring, being amazed, playing and experiencing the natural surroundings. The Pirpmatzweg trail on the Vögelsberg offers all this. It is an interactive play and themed trail for all the family. On 12 stations and using themed play installations, the myths and legends of the Vögelsberg, that is stories about the ‘birdy’ and the giant, are brought to life for young and old alike. The route is about 2 kilometres in length. Walking time with children, not factoring in any time for playing, is about 90 minutes.

Museum of Tyrolean farms

The philosophy of the Museum of Tyrolean farms is to preserve the vestiges of traditional Tyrolean farm life, to provide contemporary testimonies and to take our history with us into the future. The museum invites you to be enchanted by daily life in days past and to find out more about it. Children get to experience the Museum of Tyrolean farms in a very special way – with lots of games, quiz stations, puzzles and interactive elements. The old school gives an insight into how strict the school day must have been – while the animals roaming freely, the little lake, the farm gardens and the pastures in the open air museum create feeling of a very special security. The ‘Path of the Senses’ has its very own charm. There are three special museum programmes for children; advance registration is required for these. Children and teenagers up to the age of 17 enjoy free entry to the museum when accompanied by their parents.

Kugelwald on the Glungezer

The Kugelwald on the Glungezer, an adventure realm in Tyrol which features the only outdoor wooden ball track in the world, is a place to exercise and enjoy fun and creative activities in a natural section of woodland. Much like a roller-coaster, the wooden balls roll on the Swiss stone pine tracks from tree to tree. As well as jumps and steep sections, there is a hollowed out tree stump, a ball lift and lots of elements to create yourself for these speedy Swiss stone pine balls. Being together and having fun are the order of the day here. On an area spanning 8000 m², this mountain adventure realm has spectacular wooden ball tracks, a large tree-house, a do-it-yourself area, a relaxation area, sound features and a forest classroom. Entry to the Kugelwald on the Glungezer is free for adults and children. There is a small charge for the hire of play balls.

Lake Achensee boat trip

Children adore boat rides and on Lake Achensee, Tyrol’s largest lake, there are five different boats to choose from. There are six landing stages around the lake and a round trip takes about two hours. Lake Achensee is surrounded by mountains and by a lake and passengers get to enjoy dreamy panoramic views. Lake Achensee boat trips operate from May through to October.

Schwaz Silver Mine

A trip to the mine is particularly fascinating for children. Even the journey up on the Grubenbahn is an adventure. You then follow in the footsteps of the workers who mined silver and copper here over 500 years ago. And you glean interesting details about the social and financial development of Europe. The biggest silver mine of the Middle Ages is one of the most important sights in Tyrol and is great as an excursion destination when the weather isn’t great, and even in the heat of the summer. The mountain is a constant 12 degrees Celsius and it doesn’t rain down here!
